Product Overview:

Broad-spectrum third-generation oral cephalosporin tablet for treatment of bacterial infections including UTI, pharyngitis, bronchitis, gonorrhoea, otitis media and typhoid fever, with convenient once-daily dosing.

Each film-coated tablet contains: Cefixime Trihydrate USP equivalent to Cefixime – 400mg, Excipients q.s.

Side Effects

  • Indicated for uncomplicated urinary tract infections, pharyngitis and tonsillitis, acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, uncomplicated gonorrhoea (cervical/urethral), otitis media, and typhoid (enteric) fever caused by susceptible organisms.

  • Adults and children over 12 years/45kg: 400mg once daily.
    Alternatively 200mg every 12 hours.
    For gonorrhoea: single 400mg dose.
    Usual course 7-14 days depending on infection severity.
    May be taken with or without food.

  • Oral use. Swallow tablet with water; may be taken with or without food, at the same time each day.

  • 36 Months

  • Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture.

  • Contraindicated in patients with known allergy to cefixime or other cephalosporins. Use with caution in renal impairment, history of GI disease/colitis, and in pregnancy or lactation. Not recommended for infants below 6 months. Angioedema (facial swelling) reported rarely.

  • Diarrhoea, nausea, loose stools, abdominal pain, dyspepsia, and vomiting are most common. Rare but serious hypersensitivity reactions including rash, hives, facial oedema, and anaphylaxis; increased prothrombin time with warfarin.

Effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including beta-lactamase producing strains.

Single daily dose convenience with 400mg strength.

Higher strength tablet allows once-daily dosing, ideal for uncomplicated infections and gonorrhoea treatment.

Can be taken without regard to food.

Flexible administration improves patient compliance during the full course of antibiotic therapy.
