Product Overview:

CAPTORON-50® is a high-strength formulation of Captopril, an Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme (ACE) Inhibitor, indicated for the treatment of hypertension and heart failure. Each uncoated tablet provides 50 mg of Captopril, delivering effective vasodilation and reduction in cardiac load. CAPTORON-50® is especially suited for patients requiring higher therapeutic doses or intensified management of cardiac and renal complications associated with hypertension or diabetes.

    • Moderate to severe hypertension
    • Congestive heart failure (CHF)
    • Post-myocardial infarction (left ventricular dysfunction)
    • Diabetic nephropathy in type 1 diabetes

  • To be taken strictly under medical supervision.

  • Adults: Usually 25–50 mg taken two to three times daily, as directed by a physician.

  • Can be taken with other antihypertensives or diuretics for combined effect.

  • Take one hour before meals for best absorption.

  • Break line allows easy splitting if required.

  • Regular monitoring of renal function and electrolytes is advised.

    • Avoid use in patients with a history of angioedema or hereditary angioedema
    • Monitor serum potassium and renal function during long-term use
    • Use cautiously in patients with renal artery stenosis or autoimmune disorders
    • Contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation
    • Avoid use with potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics

  • Dry, non-productive cough

  • Low blood pressure (hypotension), especially after first dose

  • Hyperkalemia (elevated potassium)

  • Taste disturbances (metallic or loss of taste)

  • Rash, itching, or rare angioedema
