Antibiotic Tablet
Broad-spectrum third-generation oral cephalosporin tablet for treatment of bacterial infections including UTI, pharyngitis, bronchitis, gonorrhoea, otitis media and typhoid fever.
Each tablet contains: Cefixime Trihydrate USP equivalent to Cefixime – 200mg, Excipients q.s.
Colour: White to Off-White, Uncoated/Film-Coated
Indicated for uncomplicated urinary tract infections, pharyngitis and tonsillitis, acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, uncomplicated gonorrhoea, otitis media, and typhoid (enteric) fever caused by susceptible organisms.
Adults and children over 12 years/45kg: 200mg every 12 hours or 400mg once daily.
Children 6 months-12 years: 8mg/kg/day as single dose or divided doses of 4mg/kg every 12 hours, based on body weight and severity of infection.
May be taken with or without food.

Oral use. Swallow tablet with water; may be taken with or without food, at the same time each day.

Store at controlled room temperature between 20°C-25°C, protected from heat, light and moisture.
Contraindicated in patients with known allergy to cefixime or other cephalosporins. Use with caution in renal impairment, history of GI disease/colitis, and in pregnancy or lactation. Not recommended for infants under 6 months.
Diarrhoea, nausea, loose stools, abdominal pain, dyspepsia, and vomiting are most common. Rare but serious hypersensitivity reactions including rash, hives, and anaphylaxis; increased prothrombin time with warfarin.
Effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including beta-lactamase producing strains.
Higher 200mg strength suitable for adults and children above 12 years/45kg for effective bacterial infection treatment.
Flexibility of administration improves patient compliance during the full course of antibiotic therapy.
